Alex Rogeo went four rounds in a tough field in the non-electronics class at SCSN Las Vegas. A record car count, over 500 cars, meant long days in the cool weather. But the weather also helped Alex set a new fastest time of 10.25 seconds at 130 MPH in her Liquid Glow MAHLE Arrington Dodge Magnum.
“We really have the car working pretty well,” said Alex. “We ran a new personal best time for us on Wednesday during practice with a 10.26 [second elapsed time]. Friday night we bettered that in qualifying with a 10.25. The car was hooking and really moving, the hardest launches I’ve ever had in this car.”
With so many cars qualifying and racing went late into the ever cooling nights. “It was a challenge keeping everything stable and dialing the car when we raced round one late Saturday night, round two early Sunday and round three late Sunday night,” said Alex’s crew chief, MoparMax magazine editor-publisher Richard Kratz. “Alex did a great job keeping her focus and managing to go four rounds against competition that literally came from all over the US and Canada.”
Alex said, “We couldn’t have competed at SCSN without our great partners Westminster Performance Transmission and FTI Performance converters. We had an issue with the car at the last race of the year in the Premier Street Car Association race and there was very little time to fix it before SCSN. But Westminster and FTI got it done and as the time slips show, the car was awesome. During qualifying and round one of eliminations we developed a problem with the supercharger belt. And again, our great partner Arrington Performance came through. Richard spoke with Daniel at Arrington on Saturday night. We worked late in the pits using Daniel’s suggestions and sure enough come round two on Sunday morning the car ran perfectly. We’re very blessed to have such wonderful partners.”
“Of course we always come to the track to win,” continued Alex. “But drag racing is a tough sport. 50 cars started round one in our class and only one of them got them the win. And at SCSN, all of the cars are tough competition, people plan all year on coming here to race from all over North America. We ran fast, we ran consistently and we made it to the final 9 cars. I’m proud of our team and I mean our whole extended team including our marketing partners. We had a good year and I’m eager for next year. The team has some big upgrades planned for the 2016 season and details will be announced after the first of the year.”
