“If you’re a header manufacturer, what better way to test and publicize your products than to run them on your own out of sight Pro Stocker,” read an article published in the February 1972 issue of HOT ROD Magazine.
The first Hedman Hedders Pro Stock Ford Maverick, campaigned by Kenny & Dick Hedman, was stolen the night of a big magazine awards banquet held at the end of the 1970 Indy Nationals. The motor was eventually found in a haystack in Greenfield, Indiana, but the body and chassis vanished into thin air, never to be seen again. Kenny Hedman, who is the son of Hedman Hedders founder Bob Hedman, would not let this setback end the team’s racing story, or hamper Hedman’s real-world product development. Kenny, Dick (Kenny’s brother), and the rest of the guys got to work on their next-generation race car— And the new “Hedman Husler” Maverick was reborn into Pro Stock competition.

Being a car guy in Southern California provides many opportunities for outdoor activities, and Huntington Beach racer, Chad Ryker, makes the most of the near-perfect weather.
With his Hedman-equipped Camaro, Chad autocrosses as much as he can. –In the SCCA, Optima’s Ultimate Street Car Series, NMCA West, or just practice days to improve his driving skills or dial in the car’s setup. In fact, he raced in 25 events in 2016, and 22 events this year. Taking into consideration that there were multi-day events, Chad, spent more than a full month racing each year! How awesome is that?
Chad, who became a proud new papa late this year, attended his first track day back in 2009. This year, he brought his wife and one-week old daughter to an NMCA Autocross event at Auto Club Speedway. His family only attends a handful of events during the year, so he was excited to have his wife and newborn join him at the track during one of the events.
Chad’s ’68 Camaro is loaded. Long Tube Hedman Husler LS Swap Headers support a transplanted 427 cubic inch GM LS3 built by Mast Motorsports. A Tremec T-56 transmission, TCI Engineering suspension and Ride Tech coil overs smoothly plant the red Pro-Touring Chevy on the ground. Traction is provided by a set of Falken Tires, and stopping the beast is handled by Wilwood disc brakes all around.

You may have thought about it, but Norm Brown took the bull by the horns and made it happen. This Nova underwent a serious transformation to become the mean 72 muscle machine that you see here. With the help of Hedman Husler LS-swap headers and engine mounts Norm gave his Nova one heck of a heart transplant.“Those headers don’t hit the steering box, and those mounts bolt right up to the Nova sub-frame,” Norm explains. The NMCA West’s third race of the season brought thunderous racing action to Fontana’s Auto Club Dragway this past weekend. The Hedman Headers Nostalgic Street Car Class saw an exciting group of 17 drivers make the cut for Sunday’s eliminations. After battling it out for qualifying spots, Matt Loutsenhizer and his Ford would take the number one seed heading into round one.
